Tejas Rodeo was the venue for the San Antonio 2017 Summer Event. We gathered under the Cedar Arbor on a very hot evening, Saturday, July 17. Temperatures stayed in the high 90s but everyone enjoyed a Texas BBQ dinner, raffle prizes, and activities such as the mechanical bull and pony rides for the kids. DPBU West Region Director Butch P made the introductions and thanked everyone for their hard work. Then we moved into the arena for “The Greatest Show on Dirt.” We were entertained by bull riding, calf roping, tie down, and barrel racing. Mutton Bustin’ is the cutest event where 4-7 year olds hang on to a running shaggy sheep. All the kids were encouraged to jump into the arena half way through the program to stretch their legs and participate in the calf scramble.
