About AFDS
AFDS’ mission supports enterprise-level information assurance through the use of information management, information protection and information technology. AFDS provides the critical infrastructure to meet the service goal of “One Air Force, One Network.” AFDS accomplishes its mission by establishing, maintaining and enhancing a full-service Air Force Enterprise Identity Data Directory Service. AFDS is the single trusted source of Air Force Enterprise authoritative identity data attributes. Its purpose is to fully automate synchronization agreements between authoritative data sources and to provide Air Force organizations and applications access to this identity data for the purpose of access authentication and authorization for identity management purposes. Currently AFDS aggregates data from multiple authoritative sources and provides these identity data attributes to over 107 different organizations and applications. AFDS is the authoritative source for the E-mail for Career (E4C) persistent E-mail address.
